1) The myfitnesspal iPhone app (free).
This is hands-down the most convenient tool we found for keeping track of your diet and fitness. It’s easy to use and focuses on the tasks we need the most: you can count calories, track your exercise, coordinating your routine with friends and find nutritional information on a huge range of foods (over 600,000). And it’s free!
2) For those of you not using the iPhone, this weight watchers counter strikes a good balance between features and simplicity. The food groups are each broken down into a decent list of possible foods (eg ‘Broad” has options like Foccaccia, white sandwich bread etc). Just enter how much of each food you ate or plan to eat, and it adds up the calorie count for you.
3) The Virtual Medical Centre calorie counter offers some more advanced options that take into account your age, gender, weight and height.
